Dr. Chris Dotson , Pastor

 “I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some”
(1 Corinthians 9:22b).

Chris was born in Lynchburg , Virginia to Rev. Jennings and Ruth Dotson. Being raised in a pastor's home, Chris was surrounded with the gospel message and the influence of a loving church family. He put his faith in Christ as a young boy and was subsequently baptized.

After high school, Chris first attended Virginia Tech with the intention of studying engineering. However, during his first semester the Lord called him into the gospel ministry. The following year he transferred to Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City , where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion. It was this move to Jefferson City that first brought Chris to PFWBC, where he began serving as the church's Youth Minister.

Since becoming the congregation's pastor in 1994, Dotson has completed his graduate training at Bob Jones University Seminary in Greenville , SC. He also has received the emeritus degree of Doctor of Divinity from Bethel Bible College .

In addition to his pastorate, Chris is involved in a number of para-church ministries. He is the cofounder of Harvest Free Will Baptist Child Care Ministries in Duffield , Virginia , which has since cared for more than 1,000 children who have been abused and neglected. He is also the Director of Berea Ministries Inc., a missions organization that supports the ministry of national pastors in Latin America .

He and his wife, Rebecca, were married in 1993. They and their two boys, Philip and Andrew, make their home in Morristown , where Chris also serves as the Chaplain Coordinator for the city's police department.
