The state of Veracruz is one of the most beautiful in the Mexican republic. You can find a great diversity of flower and fauna, and more than anything the spectacular views filled with great color make your visit to this state very unique. It is difficult to find the words to express the beauty of the great rivers, like the one that is found in the hilly city of Coyutla, where I was invited by Pastor Andres Trinidad to officiate at a baptismal service.
One of the greatest surprises I received was seeing the church almost completed. Perhaps you would wonder what is surprising or unusual about the construction of another church. I think construction a church on a hill that is 60 meters high without any kind of special mechanism has its merit. Men, women, and children worked ardently, carrying the materials used in the construction from the foot of the hill to the top. Yes, I believe that has merit!
On Saturday I preached at the church to more than 40 young people, and on Sunday morning we all gathered at the river for the baptismal service. The ambience could not have been better. The sun was shining with a great intensity, the water was warm, and a multitude awaited the moment when eight young people would be immersed to confirm their faith in Christ.
The service on Sunday evening resulted in a great blessing too. Once more the power of the Lord was manifested and three people received Christ as their Lord and Savior!
I must confess that when I left for this trip, I left thinking that I would be a blessing to this work. However, God blessed me and enriched my life with an experience that I will never forget. I hope to be able to return some day and keep rejoicing and watching the work of the Lord growing.
